GreenYankee’s idea of fair trade
in Barter What-Have-You
Bartering. Trading. Swapping. Exchanging. No money changing hands. Post what goods or services you have and request what you need. It’s that easy and virtually cost-free (just the price of postage if you’re mailing items). The renaissance of bartering is a welcome consequence of our challenging economy and it’s environmentally friendly. Why buy it when you can barter for it? Best of all, bartering on GreenYankee puts members in touch with members. So, you’re likely to meet someone who’s like-minded, probably very cool, and may be your neighbor!
To get started bartering on GreenYankee, sign in or sign up. Then, select a category to barter in. Do you have a camp in Maine and want to try a yurt in Oregon? Try Home Swap. If you have extra marigold seeds this year, perhaps you’d like to try a different annual. Post a request in our Seed Exchange. Maybe you need some old bricks for a new patio. Try posting in Trade Stuff Locally. Of course, cooks and cooks-in-training can offer their best family recipes and reap the benefits of our members’ tried-and-true “secrets.”
GreenYankee remembers the joy and satisfaction of trading baseball cards. And trading sandwiches in the school cafeteria. It was pretty uncomplicated. Yet, if you think about it, those childhood transactions required an advanced level of reasoning and trust. Is it fair to trade my apple juice box for your fruit punch? Is your old Yaz worth my Manny the season before he was traded? 5 chickens for 2 sheep?? Start bartering. You might make a new friend.
